Luke 5:10

“Then Jesus said to Simon, ‘Don't be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.’”

Praise the Lord, my friend.

In the above verse, we see Jesus telling Simon Peter not to be afraid.

But why did Simon become afraid in the first place?

❝

Luke 5:4–5

“When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, ‘Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.’”

Simon answered, “Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”

Well, after spending the entire night fishing without catching anything, Simon did as Jesus asked and lowered his nets once again.

And this time, he caught so many fish that his nets began to break, and he had to call his partners to help him.

When Simon saw what had happened, he realized he was in the presence of someone far greater than himself and became aware of his own sinfulness.

Therefore, he fell at Jesus' knees and said that he was a sinful man.

Then, Jesus told him not to be afraid and called him to a new purpose.

And that's something we can learn from, my friend.

Sometimes, we look at ourselves and see all the reasons why we aren't good enough.

We recall our past mistakes and doubt how God could ever use someone like us.

But Jesus knew Simon, including his weaknesses, and He still called him to follow Him.

And just like in the case of Peter, God doesn't ask us to rely only on our own strength or understanding.

❝

Romans 12:1

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’”

My friend, our weaknesses and shortcomings don't have to stop us from following God.

Because it was never about our capabilities or goodness, but always about Him and His eternal sacrifice on the cross.

Hence, we should always depend on His grace and trust Him to help us through everything.

And when fear or guilt makes us hesitate, we should remember what the Word of God tells us in Isaiah 41:10:

❝

Isaiah 41:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.”

So, my friend, let's not allow our shortcomings or the fear of not being good enough to stop us from following Jesus.

We don't need to have everything figured out, nor do we need to be perfect before we take the next step with Him.

Instead, let's bring our fears to Jesus, ask Him for guidance, and trust Him as we move forward, knowing that nothing is impossible for Him.

May His will be done in our lives, and may we never forget that He loves us sooooooo tooooooo and veryyyyyyy much.

We don’t know who needs the above reminder, but God knows, my friend.

So let us share it with a prayer.

Let’s Pray

Dear, gracious heavenly Father,

Thank You for reminding us that we don't have to be perfect to follow You.

Sometimes, we allow our past mistakes and fears to make us feel unworthy of Your calling.

But just as You called Simon Peter despite his shortcomings, help us remember that You know us completely and still invite us to walk with You.

Lord, when we feel afraid or doubt ourselves, help us trust Your presence and depend on Your strength instead of our own.

Please, give us the courage to take the next step, even when we don't know what lies ahead.

And help us listen to Your voice and obey You, even when things don't make sense to us.

Thank You for Your grace, patience, and Your unfailing love.

May we never let our fears hold us back from what You have called us to do, and may our lives point others towards You.

And Father, as we share the above creative, please use each share for Your glory and draw one more heart closer to You.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
