Matthew 4:25

“Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.”

Praise the Lord, my friend.

In the above verse, Matthew tells us that large crowds from different regions were following Jesus.

And, when we read the previous passage, we understand why they were following Him.

Matthew 4:23–24

“Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness among the people. News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them.”

Jesus was teaching in the synagogues, sharing the good news, healing the sick and doing all sorts of miracles.

So, many of them were there to hear what Jesus had to say.

Others were coming because they needed healing or wanted to see what He could do.

And there is nothing wrong with that.

If someone was sick and heard that Jesus was healing people, why wouldn't they go to Him?

People had their reasons for following Jesus.

Just like many of us do now.

But is it the right one? That’s what we need to ask ourselves, my friend.

You know, in the chaos of life, we can subconsciously start focusing more on the blessing than on the one who blesses us.

But just as the Bible tells us, our love for Jesus should not depend on what we receive from Him.

Matthew 22:37

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

We should only focus on loving Him and engaging in things that are pleasing to Him with everything we’ve got.

He will take care of the rest as He always does. (He is the best 🥹)

So, my friend, let us examine our hearts and see if we’ve subconsciously started following God for the blessings, neglecting His love and word.

May He speak to all of us and His will be done.

Share with Prayer:

We don’t know who needs to see the above post, but God does, my friend.

So let us share it with a prayer.

Let’s Pray

Dear gracious heavenly Father,

Thank You for allowing us to come to You with everything in our hearts.

Please help us remember that following You is not about what we receive from You, but about loving You for who You are.

When our hearts become focused on what we want, bring our attention back to You.

For my friend reading this, please help them grow closer to You and know You more each day.

Give them a heart that seeks You even when there is nothing to ask for.

And Lord, please use the post we are about to share for Your glory. Let it reach someone who needs to think about their relationship with You today.

May Your will be done.

In Jesus' name we pray,

Amen.

Praise God, my friend.

If you’ve any prayer requests, please hit reply and let me know.

I would love to pray for you.
