Praise the Lord, my friend,

Have you ever kept asking God “why” about something?

Because you couldn't understand what was happening in your life?

Habakkuk knew what that felt like, my friend.

Hence, at the beginning of his book, he asks God this:

Habakkuk 1:2

“How long, LORD, must I call for help, but you do not listen?”

You see, Habakuk wasn't hiding his frustration or pretending that he understood what God was doing.

Instead, he brought the question directly to God because he wanted an answer.

But when we come to chapter 3, Habakkuk's words are different.

He still knows that things are not going well, and he knows that the situation may become even worse, but still he says:

Habakkuk 3:17-18

“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”

You see, he is looking at a situation where everything he depends on could fail.

Yet he is still saying that he will rejoice in the Lord.

And, my friend, I think there is something important here for us.

We often want to know why something is happening before we decide how we should respond to it.

But Habakkuk didn't get an explanation for every part of what he was facing.

And he still knew how he wanted to stand before God.

Proverbs 3:5

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”

We may not always understand what God is doing, but we can still trust Him with what we don't understand.

Just like Habakkuk started with questions, but he ended by saying, “The Sovereign LORD is my strength.”

May we do the same, my friend.

We don’t know who needs to see this, my friend, but God does.

So let us share it with a prayer.

Share with Prayer:

Dear Father God,

Thank You for reminding us through Habakkuk that we can come to You with our questions and still choose to trust You.

When we don’t understand what is happening in our lives, please give us the strength to keep praying and not lose faith in You.

Lord, when the answers don’t come and our situations don’t change, help us remember that You are still with us.

Teach us to trust You even when we cannot see what You are doing.

And Lord, please use the above post that we are about to share for Your purpose.

Let it reach the right person and help them draw closer to You.

In Jesus' name,
Amen.
