Praise the Lord, my friend,

When was the last time you made a choice that you knew was wrong, but you still did it because it was beneficial for you?

I was in that situation last week at work.

Honestly, I knew what I should have done, but I still chose what was more convenient for me.

At that moment, I had my reasons for making that choice.

But deep down, I knew it was not the right thing to do.

In short, I let pride take over.

And I feel there are multiple moments in our day when we go through this tug-of-war situation between humility and pride.

Therefore, the Word of God talks about it briefly in Proverbs:

Proverbs 11:2-3

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.”

You see, pride can be difficult to recognise when it is in us, my friend.

We can easily point it out in someone else.

But when it comes to us, we have reasons and explanations.

And also a feeling that tries to convince us that what we did was justified.

And that is why practicing humility is not always easy.

As it requires us to be honest with ourselves, which is the hardest thing to do.

Because we don’t want to admit that a certain side of us exists.

Jeremiah 17:10

“I, the Lord, search the heart and examine the mind.”

We might not want to admit it, but God already knows.

He knows our heart better than we do, my friend.

We can give ourselves reasons for why we did something, but God knows what was really going on in our hearts.

So, in that tug of war between Humility and Pride, when pride starts to take the lead, let’s come to the Lord.

And ask ourselves whether it is pleasing to Him or pleasing to us?

And let the answer truly humble us and lead the choice, but not us and our sense of pride.

Let His will be done.

We don’t know who needs to see the above post, but God does, my friend.

So let’s share it with a prayer:

Share with Prayer:

Dear Father God,

Thank You for always knowing our hearts, even when we do not want to admit what is really going on inside us.

Lord, please help us when pride takes over.

Give us the humility to come before You honestly and choose what is pleasing to You instead of what is pleasing to us.

Help us to trust Your ways, even when they are different from what we want.

And Lord, please use the above post that we are about to share for Your glory.

Let it reach the right person and may they help someone draw closer to You.

In Jesus' name we pray,

Amen.
